Vote Suppressing

Trump and Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, are once again attempting to suppress the vote by linking government funding to a bill aimed at addressing immigration. They hope to blame immigration for a possible defeat of Donald Trump in the upcoming election. The Speaker initiated a plan at the start of the month to pressure other members of the Republican party using the Saved Act, but it lacks support. The SAVE Act, which aims to prevent non-citizens from voting in federal elections, seems unnecessary as non-citizens rarely attempt to vote due to the potential consequences. The Republican party also advocates for additional proof of citizenship, potentially reducing voter turnout. However, with the Democrats controlling the decision-making in the Senate, the bill is unlikely to pass.

Trump’s support for the SAVE Act is rooted in his endorsement of the baseless conspiracy theory called “The Great Replacement Theory.” This unfounded theory is used by conspiracy theorists and the Republican party, Donald Trump, and his supporters. The Great Replacement Theory is a delusional conspiracy theory suggesting that undocumented aliens were brought in by the Democrats to diminish the influence of white people. This reflects the mindset of Trump, Speaker Mike Johnson, and the Republican party. Their desperate attempts to retain power have led them to propagate this delusion, unfortunately influencing a significant portion of the population.
