There’s a difference between being misinformed and being dangerous. Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are both—and they’ve weaponized their ignorance at the highest levels of government, turning public health into a spectacle of confusion, fear, and pseudoscience.
At a recent White House press conference, Trump claimed that Tylenol use during pregnancy causes autism. Flanked by his Health Secretary RFK Jr., he announced that the FDA would approve a chemotherapy drug—leucovorin—as a treatment for autism, based on limited and unverified evidence. This wasn’t a medical briefing. It was a circus act—complete with wild claims, zero citations, and a total disregard for scientific consensus.
RFK Jr., long known for peddling conspiracy theories about vaccines and toxins, is now using his federal platform to push for warning labels on Tylenol and launch a public campaign against its use. Never mind that the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has made it clear: untreated pain and fever during pregnancy pose far greater risks than acetaminophen. The science isn’t ambiguous—it’s settled. But this administration isn’t interested in facts. It’s interested in fear.
This is not a fringe moment. It’s a full-scale assault on evidence-based medicine. Trump and RFK Jr. are promoting unproven treatments and debunked theories. They’re undermining decades of research and global medical consensus. They’re turning public health into political theater—with real consequences for real families.
Dr. Hillary Jones, speaking on Good Morning Britain, called their claims “completely erroneous” and “based on no evidence whatsoever.” He’s not alone. Medical professionals worldwide are scrambling to reassure patients, while Kenvue—the maker of Tylenol—issued a direct and urgent rebuttal, warning that Trump’s statements pose a serious health risk.
The fallout is already underway.
Kenvue’s stock plunged nearly 8% after Trump’s remarks, hitting a record low. Lawsuits are circling. Confusion is spreading. And trust in public health leadership continues to erode.
This isn’t just misinformation. It’s malpractice at scale. Trump and RFK Jr. aren’t leaders—they’re clowns with microphones. And every time they speak, they destabilize science, endanger lives, and drag the country deeper into a fog of manufactured doubt.
We cannot afford to treat this as another bizarre episode. This is a regime that governs by conspiracy, thrives on confusion, and treats truth as an inconvenience. It’s time to call it what it is: a public health crisis engineered by the very people sworn to prevent one.
