No retreat no surrender
The Ukrainian army has shown incredible bravery by taking the lead and standing up to Putin, who initiated this conflict. It’s time for Putin to face the consequences of an invasion that could have been avoided if he had chosen to build a relationship with Ukraine, a free and independent
President Putin believed that Ukraine would be an easy target, but history reminded him of Russia’s defeat when they invaded Afghanistan from December 24, 1979, to February 15, 1989. This historical reference serves as a potent reminder of the potential outcomes of such aggressive actions – they were decisively defeated and had to retreat to Russia.
The Soviet Union incurred heavy losses of 7.5 billion dollars and suffered significant casualties, including 15,000 troops, hundreds of aircraft, and billions of dollars’ worth of military equipment. This conflict played a pivotal role in the eventual disintegration of the Soviet Union.
President Putin’s failure to learn from history resulted in the invasion of Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea. His assumption that the Ukrainian people would be easy to conquer was not just a mistake but a serious miscalculation.
When the invasion began on February 24, 2022, President Putin expected a warm welcome from the Ukrainian people, but he severely underestimated Ukraine’s resolve to remain free and independent and to resist Russian influence. With unwavering support from the US and NATO, providing the necessary supplies and equipment, Ukraine has effectively resisted Putin’s aggression.
This international unity offers hope in these challenging times. Putin must comply with Ukraine’s demands, put an end to the war they started, retreat across the border, and allow Ukraine to live in peace.
